The Survival Project is a collaborative effort to communicate vital public issues of importance to Americans.

2025:

The Survival Project initiated a fundraising campaign to cover legal fees for immigrants, refugees, asylum-seekers and individuals illegally detained by ICE.

Phases of this initiative were presented in collaboration with Fall of Freedom and SaveArtSpace.org

PHASE ONE

To Inspire a sense of responsibility for one another and Initiate a more robust civic dialogue, The Survival Project produced and wheat pasted posters, conceived and created by artist Terry Berkowitz, in NYC as a way to encourage financial support of legal organizations helping immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers who are facing costly legal expenses.

PHASE TWO

A targeted email campaign seek donations from individuals in support of organizations offering Pro Bono legal representation.

PHASE THREE

A evening fundraising event focused on encouraging donations to organizations offering Pro Bono legal representation to immigrants, refugees, and asylum-seekers.

2022:

The Survival Project rolled out the The Scarlet Letter (Pin) Project.

Originally conceptualized in 1995 by artist Terry Berkowitz, this project was conceived to break through the silence, guilt, and shame forced on many of us by an uncaring society, to allow individuals to openly deal with the events that touched them deeply, to understand that we are not alone, that there are millions just like us, and to identify ourselves and those who support us.

PHASE ONE

For the first phase of this project, the full amount of the donations will be sent to clinics providing abortions neighboring states where abortions have been criminalized. Donors will receive a Scarlet Letter pin symbolizing solidarity in the face of endless attacks on the rights of people who can become pregnant to their own bodies. The pin will show our strength and numbers. The aim is to maintain safe abortions as an option for all.
